SPAWAR recommends a JDTECK DAS to the MCU

When the USMC was seeking sources for a reputable DAS solution and vendor for its University Campus building located at Camp Johnson NC, it was referred to JDTECK.

The Challenge

When the US Marine Corps University located at Camp Johnson was being built, it was discovered that in-building cellular reception was very poor due to the reinforced materials used in its construction. The USMC reached out to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) for its recommendation on which solution it recommends would best address this communication issue. It needed to be a solution that was very robust and more importantly, came from a trusted vendor with a solid track record of success. The JDTECK DAS came highly recommended from the folks at SPAWAR because of multiple successful deployments JDTECK completed for this agency years prior.

A site survey was conducted which verified the findings of the MCU personnel. Little to non-existent cell reception inside the facility.

Our Approach

JDTECK was tasked with engineering, supplying and deploying a Turn-Key digital DAS that would provide full building reception for all the Wireless Service Providers (WSP’s) and would meet all of the WSP’s benchmarks to obtain a retransmission agreement from each provider.

JDTECK engineered a comprehensive Distributed Antenna System solution which included a dedicated digital headend repeater for each WSP.

After contract award, JDTECK worked with its own team of trusted and experienced installers to complete this project. It was closely monitored by SPAWAR personnel who was very pleased with our neat and clean work process. Everything being properly labelled and well documented.

The Results

At system commissioning, JDTECK worked directly with the Radio Access Network (RAN) engineers of the various carriers to ensure perfect azimuth alignments were achieved and the seamless network integration with the macro sites was a success.

One RAN engineer was impressed to the point of being speechless as he observed JDTECK’s engineering team remotely configured the DAS settings for his network. The speed, efficiency and accuracy at which this process was completed, simply blew his mind.

After system programming, commissioning and optimization, JDTECK then walked the entire building with a representative of SPAWAR to conduct a very detailed and rigorous verification testing process. JDTECK passed with flying colors.

The following is a testimonial letter received from SPAWAR for this project.

The level of professional customer service and technical knowledge was unmatched. JDTECK is always welcomed here at the Embraer Engineering & Technology Center USA. We hope to continue this partnership in the near future
