The Challenge

The POD Hotel in Brooklyn is a modern & trendy space that offers competitively priced lodging in Brookly New York. Because of the modern design of this building which feature lots of metal surfaces, cellular reception inside the hotel was “horrible” to “No Service”. Needless to say, guests were constantly complaining which quickly started to affect retention numbers as well as duration of stays. They needed a highly versatile DAS solution deployed quickly. A system that could provide improved cell reception for all the wireless service providers in this dense metro market with highly varied signal strengths right outside the building.

This problem only became apparent to hotel ownership soon after its grand opening. POD Brooklyn reached out to JDTECK who came highly recommended from another hotelier with this urgent need.

Our Approach

JDTECK obtained the floor plans of this hotel and quickly went to work on engineering a digital solution to address this communication issue. JDTECK engineered a comprehensive solution from just this floor plan, which allowed us to provide the customer a very accurate estimate. A site visit was scheduled to verify donor metrics as well as access paths ahead of the actual deployment. We were able to schedule a start date for deployment in a pretty short space of time. Our team of installers worked very neat, clean, and within the times allotted for accessing various parts of the hotel during the installation process. Management was extremely pleased with the entire experience. 

The Results

The end result was full bars cell service throughout the entire hotel (All levels and spaces). Both guests and staff members were very pleased with the performance results. Because the only active device in the DAS is our very advanced digital headend unit, the system’s up-time performance is over 99.99%. And best of all, the price point of this solution was significantly cheaper than competing offerings.
